Abstract

A systematic study of the relationship between the technological parameters of sintering, structure and mechanical characteristics of PL-N2D2M powder steel has been carried out. The influence of temperature-time modes of sintering and carbon content on the processes of structure formation, homogenization and formation of interparticle contacts has been studied by methods of modern materials science diagnostics. Quantitative patterns of the influence of sintering parameters on the tensile strength and the nature of material fracture have been established. The methods of fractographic analysis revealed the evolution of fracture mechanisms depending on the degree of completeness of diffusion processes. The critical sintering parameters ensuring the formation of intracrystalline particle fusion necessary for operation in a complex stress state have been determined. The results obtained provide a scientific basis for optimizing the technological modes of production of critical machine-building parts using powder metallurgy methods.
